Investigation of Teacher Opinions on Stem Education

Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the opinions of teachers working in various branches on STEM education. The research was designed by case study, one of the qualitative research methods. The study group of the research consists of 7 teachers selected by purposeful sampling method. The data were collected using a structured interview form developed by the researchers. The data obtained from the study group were analyzed by content analysis method, one of the qualitative research methods. A total of five themes were created as a result of the analysis. It is seen that teachers' views on STEM education are generally positive. In this context, multidisciplinary in the definition theme for STEM; 21st century skills in the theme of student impact; populist approaches in contact STEM Education in Turkey; not being understood in contact with the mistakes made; It was concluded that views on infrastructure and equipment were emphasized in the theme of integration. It is seen that teachers' views on STEM education are generally positive.
